It’s amazing how much applications for everyday use is now based on mozilla.org‘s code . (It’s amazing because it’s not so long when Mozilla.org produces only Mozilla Suite and Firefox was a standalone project of Ross Blake and Dave Hyatt and XUL programming was really an adventure).

So here is the list of applications which I’m using everyday and which are based on Mozilla.org‘s code:

  • Mozilla Firefox – my main browser and tool for web-developing.
  • Mozilla Thunderbird + Mozilla Calendar – email client with calendar extension (I’m using my own build with some patches) – you can build your office on it :) .
  • Komodo Edit – currently has my vote for the best free editor for the programmers…
  • Flock – amazing browser for modern web, I’m using it for more and more time…
  • Songbird – really nice music player but currently still heavy buggy on Linux :( .
  • Democracy Player – I’m using it as a bittorrent downloader and a movie player. I’m trying some hacking on it and I helped with Czech localization…
  • XULRunner – I have a few of web applications packed as a XulRunner app (only browser with loaded target web service – such as SLIMTIMER). All are launched as a normal desktop applications via shortcut with their own icons.

I think (if I omitt OpenOffice.org and file manager) that these applications are those which I’m running the most. All this ensures me that I’ve choosen the right platform before the years :) .
